Procedures for use of the Swimming Pool

1.       The maximum number of persons permitted in the swimming pool at any one  time is 50.

2.      Persons under the age of 18 using the swimming pool must be supervised by qualified lifeguards. Up to 20 swimmers requires 1 lifeguard, 20 to 50 swimmers require 2 lifeguards. Other adults should also be in attendance.

3.      Sunbury Court does not have a qualified lifeguard if you wish to use the swimming pool you must provide your own lifeguards. All lifeguards must produce a valid certificate showing that they have passed “The Royal Life Saving Society UK National Pool Life Guard Qualification” (NPLQ). No other qualifications will be accepted. There are several local pools and it may be possible to arrange coverage from one of these if you do not have a qualified lifeguard on your staff.

4.      Running and playing of games around perimeter of the pool is not permitted.

5.      Suitable and appropriate footwear and clothing must be worn around the pool complex.

6.      Persons with long hair must use a suitable swimming cap when using the pool.

7.      Persons using the diving board, slide, and other pool equipment must take care. Persons misusing the pool equipment will be asked to leave the premises.

8.      Groups are responsible for providing their own First Aid facilities at the poolside.

9.      In the event of a lack of water clarity, overcrowding, or unruly behaviour the Manager will require the pool to be vacated. A clear instruction to vacate the pool will be given by a member of the Management Staff.

10. Sunbury Court Recreation Centre Management will ensure the following:
  Check all equipment weekly.
  Inspect safety equipment daily before the pool is used and at regular intervals during opening hours.
Satisfy itself that the appropriate number of lifeguards are in attendance ant that they are correctly qualified.
Regularly inspect the pool to ensure that there is not unruly behaviour, overcrowding or other breaches of pool rules.
Keep a record of any accidents.
Regularly inspect toilets and changing rooms for cleanliness.
Ensure the pool itself and its surrounds are clean each morning.
Ensure that the water in the pool is fit for swimming before the pool is opened each day and at regular intervals during the day.
